South of Seoul is completely powered by volunteers. Teachers, professors, business owners, military spouses, and more pitch in to make sure that everyone has what they need to thrive South of Seoul. Here is a complete list of volunteer positions.

ADMINISTRATIVE


Social Architect -  Lanae (2015)
Responsibilities:
  • App design, improvements, and development
  • Community liaison
  • Create and managing marketing plan
  • Assign and maintain volunteer job descriptions
  • Create base organization frame work for all new projects
  • Audit systems and implement improvements 
  • Submit at least 2-3 blogs a month 
  • Keep track of change within the foreigner community and the local community

Volunteer Coordinator / 5 hours a week -  Siegrid Pregartner (2017)

Responsibilities:
  • Recruits volunteers as needed
  • Works with volunteers to find a position that works well with their skills and resources
  • Trains new volunteers on the tools needed for their position
  • Regularly audits the work done on the app to find errors or inconsistencies
  • Tracks volunteer hours
  • Runs quarterly volunteer meetings
  • Plans farewell events
  • Compiles exit paperwork

New Listings Data Entry Manager / 5 -10 hours a week - Breanne 
Responsibilities
  • Enter new recommendations into the app
  • Follow procedures and systems in place
  • Check accuracy of information
  • Search and find incomplete information
  • Edit contributions for continuity 
  • Gather recommendations from local expat groups
What skills you need to have and what you need to know:

  • Ability to use Naver Maps, WAZE, etc.

Content Editor and New Features Development / 5 -10 hours a week - Katie Howell
Responsibilities
  • Add new features to all app listings
  • Process edits
  • Audit for inconsistencies
  • Embed new information

  • Basic Korean skills
  • Ability to use Naver Maps, WAZE, etc.
  • Basic ability to do a Naver search
  • Basic HTML knowledge

Exploration & Trip Coordinator / 5 -10 hours a week - Samantha
Responsibilities
  • Document businesses in new areas
  • Quarterly reviews of popular neighborhoods
  • Create required WAZE pins
  • Gather images needed for the app
  • Create trip manifests
  • Send out confirmation for events and trips
  • Train trip leaders in how to use SOS systems
What skills you need to have and what you need to know:
  • A computer
  • Knowledge of the Korean alphabet
  • Ability to use Naver Maps, WAZE, etc.

Useful Phrases & Information Translation Services / 3 - 5 hours a week - Lucy
Responsibilities
  • Creates the Useful Phrases language cards
  • Translates required phrases to Korean
  • Searches NAVER & Daum for things SOS needs found

Korean Liaison & Technical Writer  / 5 -10 hours a week - Diana Kim

Responsibilities
  • Book trips and coordinate with bus company
  • Be available to answer emergency questions from trip leaders during trips
  • Translate professional letters 
  • Translate English blogs into Korean and post to NAVER blog
  • Assist SOS in understanding the unique needs to Korean owned businesses.

Calendar Manager / 3-6 hours a week - Sara Marie
Responsibilities:
  • Uploads events to the South of Seoul Google calendar
  • Follow current information management systems and offer ideas on how to improve processes
  • Reviews event details to make sure they are complete and easily understood
  • Works with event hosts to make sure all information is accurate and easy to understand
  • Schedule Push Notifications for important events
  • Schedule FB Page posts for events
What skills you need to have and what you need to know:

COMMUNITY REPRESENTATIVES

In order to make sure that South of Seoul is meeting the needs of the entire Pyeontaek community, we seek volunteer representatives from each major English speaking foreigner group living in the area. The volunteer works with a specific segment of the population to make sure their needs and interests are represented in the development of the app.

Camp Humphreys Spouses Rep / 3 hours a week - Siegrid Pregartner (2016)
Responsibilities:
  • Make sure Camp Humphreys spouses are aware of SOS and it's offerings
  • Encourage spouses to leave reviews on the app
  • Make sure recommendations made in the Camp Humphreys spouses page are added to the South of Seoul app
  • Let the SOS volunteer team know of specific needs and issues Camp Humphreys families face
  • Let SOS volunteer team know of important information related to life at Camp Humphreys

Osan Air Force Base Spouses Rep / 3 hours a week - VACANT

  • Make sure Osan Air Force Base spouses are aware of SOS and it's offerings
  • Encourage Osan Air Force Base spouses to leave reviews on the app
  • Make sure recommendations made in the Osan Air Force Base spouses page are added to the South of Seoul app
  • Let the SOS volunteer team know of specific needs and issues Osan Air Force Base families face
  • Let SOS volunteer team know of important information related to life at Osan Air Force Base

  • Encourage Anjung teachers to leave reviews on the app
  • Make sure recommendations made in the Anjung groups are added to the South of Seoul app
  • Let the SOS volunteer team know of specific needs and issues Anjung Teachers face
  • Let SOS volunteer team know of important information related to life in Anjung
What skills you need to have and what you need to know:
  • A computer.
  • Is a member of the Anjung FB Groups
  • Familiar with what is available on the South of Seoul app

Cheonan Community Rep / 1-2 hours - Filled (2017)
Responsibilities:
  • Make sure the Cheonan community is aware of SOS and it's offerings
  • Encourage Cheonan community members to leave reviews on the app
  • Make sure recommendations made in the Cheonan groups are added to the South of Seoul app
  • Let the SOS volunteer team know of specific needs and issues Cheonan community faces
  • Let SOS volunteer team know of important information related to life in Cheonan
